Dec 1st Christmas Lights Day
Time to deck the halls, folks, because December 1 is National Christmas Lights Day! DYK: Before the invention of electric lights, families would balance candles on the branches of their Christmas trees!

Downloaded from Canva as an MP4 file this post will light up your instagram with blinking lights and falling confetti!

How will you be Celebrating National Christmas Lights Day?

Take A Christmas Lights Walk
Bundle up in your winter coat and take a walk through your neighborhood to enjoy the lights on display. Or, if there’s a place in your hometown that’s notorious for grandiose light displays, take a trip over there to check them out. It’s a great way to stay connected with your community, get exercise, and just enjoy the beauty of the winter season.
Coordinate with your Neighbors
If you feel like putting on a big scene with your neighbors, you can collaborate on a specific design together. Whether it’s a repeated motif or an extended scene, this is a great way to exercise your creativity and have a great time with your neighbors. And as a bonus, you might end up going viral thanks to some passer-by with a smartphone.
Set your Lights to Music
This was a trend a few years ago, but we maintain that it’s still a classic Christmas project. If you’ve got the know-how (or know someone who does), you can set your lights to flash to the beat of your favorite song.

However you celebrate this festive day, make sure to make it a SALTEES Celebration and tag us with your photos! We'd love to celebrate with you @saltees_celebration

Mitten Tree Day
Dec 6th - Mitten Tree Day
This fun celebration Day was created to honor the book titled “The Mitten Tree.” The author Candace Christiansen wrote the book, and it focused on Sarah, a lady who misses her grown-up children. Sarah is about to walk through the cold winter weather, and on her trek, she looks at the children who wait for their school bus near the big evergreen tree. Even though she smiles at the children, it seems they do not see her.

Sarah notices that some of the children there are unable to play in the snow as they don’t have mittens. So Sarah knits a basket full of mittens and hangs all of them all over the tree for all the children. One day when Sarah had no yarn, a basket full of yarn appears with which she again knitted mittens. Whenever Sarah runs out of yarn, a basket with more yarn comes. She knits the mittens for the girls and boys in her town. Mitten has derived its name from the Old French word mitaine. It was an old pet name for a cat, and the mittens were made of animal fur.
Celebrating the Mitten Tree Day is a lot of fun!
  • Wear mittens and roll some snowballs! Tell people around you about the importance of wearing mittens and its history.
  • Learn how to knit them! You can knit some colorful mittens for people around you to make the love and the warmth.
  • Decorate a tree in your home or office with mittens hangings. Celebrate your Christmas tree for a few days with mitten decorations.
  • Share your Mitten Tree pictures on the social media using the hashtag #MittenTreeDay.
This year we have filled our Mitten Tree up with the CUTEST Plush Paws! FREE GIFT! With a $5 Good Karma pledge to SALTEES The Water Project Fundraiser + Shipping While Quantities Last!

Cotton Candy Day

Dec 7th - Cotton Candy Day
National Cotton Candy Day is celebrated on December 7  to our sweet tooth’s joy and our dentists’ dismay. But did you know dentists actually invented it in the first place? It was even called fairy floss back in the day. Now, it’s the go-to at county fairs and a must-have when riding a Ferris wheel. Most of our childhood memories wouldn’t have been complete without the sugary cloud that is cotton candy.

How will you be celebrating National Cotton Candy Day?

Eat all the cotton candy you can!
Buy some and celebrate! Maybe try a new flavor for the first time. Banana? Green apple? Strawberry?
Give some to your siblings or childhood friends
If you enjoyed cotton candy with someone at a young age, celebrate with them. We're sure sweet memories will accompany this sweet fix.
Try making it at home
Think you could do better than the dentists who created it? Give it a shot and try various flavors while you're at it.

However you celebrate this sweet day, make sure to make it a SALTEES Celebration and tag us with your photos! We'd love to celebrate with you @saltees_celebration

Check out these cool Cotton Candy kicks in SALTEES Merry PINKMAS Collection! Mix & match them with sweet tees, skater skirts, face masks AND MORE!

Christmas Card Day
December 9th - Christmas Card Day
Christmas Card Day is all about paying tribute to the creation of this type of greeting card. The first commercial Christmas card was created in England by Sir Henry Cole in 1843.

For some people, they love nothing more than purchasing Christmas cards for everyone they know and writing special messages inside. For others, they can’t remember when they last sent anyone a Christmas card. No matter what category you fall into, there is no denying that it is nice to send people cards at Christmas and to wish them well for the year ahead. If you don’t usually send Christmas cards, why not make this the year that you finally do?

Find the perfect card in our Christmas Card Collection. Or surprise your loved ones with a Luxury 3D POP UP Christmas Card!

Dec 13th - National Cocoa Day

There’s no better drink to dispel the frostiness of winter than hot cocoa. Whether you make it from dark, rich cocoa powder or from an easy-open pack, drink it straight or add extra flavors like peppermint or cinnamon, enjoy it unadorned or topped with whipped cream or marshmallows, there’s no doubt that hot cocoa is a favorite for cozy snuggling.

Warm up tonight with a sweet 40% OFF Our Entire Baby It's Cold Outside Collection! Use promo code: SWEET40 at check-out! TODAY ONLY!

The history of cocoa being used as a drink goes back to the Aztec culture in 500 BCE (although archaeologists believe it predates that time). It took until 1828, however, for powdered chocolate to be developed (allowing for both chocolate bars and instant hot chocolate to be produced); and it wasn’t until the 1950s and 1960s that Charles Sanna created Swiss Miss – the first hot cocoa able to be mixed in a cup. To celebrate this rich indulgence, mix up frothy mugs of hot cocoa and cuddle up with a great book!

National Cupcake Day

Dec 15th - National Cupcake Day

Even the word cupcake sounds like a miniature celebration! The cupcake was originally known as the 1-2-3-4 cake because the recipe called for 1 cup of butter, 2 cups of sugar, 3 cups of flour, 4 eggs, and also 1 cup of milk, and 1 spoonful of baking soda.

Someone must have wanted to surprise a loved one with a sweet, single-serving treat when they invented the cupcake. One of the first recipes for a cupcake can be traced back to 1796. A recipe notation for a cake to be baked in small cups was written in American Cookery (by Amelia Simmons).

Today, cupcakes are an artform. Bakers create elaborate decorations and displays utilizing a variety of ingredients. Whether they’re the centerpiece of a wedding, birthday, or anniversary cupcakes satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. Colorful and fun, these single-serving delights offer a pleasing option when planning any celebration.

The single-serve cake makes it convenient for serving and sharing. Today there are a variety of recipes and just as many flavors to choose from. When it comes to celebrating National Cupcake Day, you are only limited by your imagination!

Regifting Day

Dec 23 - Re-Gifting Day

Regifting doesn’t have to be tasteless, rude, impolite, lazy, or any of those descriptors. We live in a commercial society where the NEWEST, BRIGHTEST, and LATEST products find their way into our homes. For many people, regifting is not considered a means of getting rid of something unwanted, but it is a way to give something that is needed, wanted, and will be used.

It is also better for the environment as it keeps items in use and out of landfills. Let's Ring in the New Year with the resolution to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle!

Regifting Gifts to Try
  • Unused handmade gifts – Knitted scarves, sweaters, and blankets sometimes become cherished gifts. Leather or woodcraft items also make excellent gifts.
  • Books – Some people cherish used books much more than brand new copies. While the author might prefer that you give new, sometimes just sharing the story is the important thing.
  • Plants – If you’re not a plant person and received a plant, giving the plant to a plant person makes two species happy.
  • Duplicate high-end items – It happens. You receive two toasters, two rice cookers, and three sets of mixing bowls for your shower or house warming party. Well, you can return them or you can give them to someone you know will use them. Regift to another new homeowner, college student, or someone you know has been wanting that pressure cooker.
  • Sets of things – For example, wine glasses, coffee mugs, flower pots, and salt and pepper grinders. All of these are acceptable gifts under any circumstance. Chances are, you don’t have the receipt for these, and all of them will be enjoyed by the right person.
  • A family heirloom – Well cared for family heirlooms make great gifts – to the right person. Someone who doesn’t cherish family history will not appreciate this gift. Consider giving a framed copy of a family recipe, a piece of furniture, crockery, photo, or art.

Q. What are some ways to make regifting better?
A. Several ways to make regifting generally approved are:

  • Pair the item with a gift card.
  • Create a culture in your family where regifting is acceptable. Agree that the gifts must be handmade, repurposed, or regifted.
  • Pair the gift with baked goods.
